Calgary Flamers
That's how we became the Kerkland Jerks

Hello! I'm at the Sled Island music festival this weekend, so if you see me strolling around Calgary, feel free to say hey!

Over the past few nights, I've had my mind melted into a puddle of blissful goo by WITCH, Banggz, Irreversible Entanglements, and especially Malcolm Mooney & The Eleventh Planet (MUCH more on that soon). The festival has barely begun, and tonight I'm looking forward to seeing Sarah Davachi and Laurel Halo.

However, people have been telling me that I should be using this newsletter to remind them about what I'm doing, so I wanted to promote Kerkland Jerks' performance on Saturday afternoon at Dandy Brewing. We play at 3 pm.

Attendees of all ages are welcome, and we'll be sharing the stage with two of our favourite Vancouver bands — WUT and Big Rig — plus Barbara and Hardcore Makeout. "This crew of jubilant indie-rock jesters" will be playing our forthcoming debut album front to back, so come on out for a sneak preview!

In other news, Frozen Lake (my improvised guitar and drums duo with Bitter Fictions' Devin Friesen) will be performing at Loophole Coffee on the evening of Thursday, June 27th.

Frozen Lake will be joined by a solo set from saxophonist Jairus Sharif (who just performed with Malcolm Mooney), Victrix, and DJ Jeremy Curry, to celebrate the release of our debut cassette on Devin's label, Shaking Box Music. Come hear some sounds that you'll never hear again!
